Boardman, Ervin S. (12 FEB 1884 - 19 OCT 1952)

Ervin S. Boardman, 68, retired businessman and farmer, passed away during his sleep at his farm in the town of Thorp (Eidsvold, Clark Co., Wis.) on Sunday, Oct. 19, 1952.

Mr. Boardman was born in Thorp Feb. 12, 1884, the son of Willis and Mary Boardman, who were among the earliest pioneers of Thorp, coming here from Olmsted County, Minn. In 1879. Erve attended the local schools, after which eh spent several witners in lumber camps in this vicinity and also spent a few years with his parents who had moved to Rochester, Minn.

He bought out the Barrett Bros. General Store at Eidsvold in 1906 and built the present Eidsvold Cheese Factory 44 years ago, which he operated for twelve years before moving to the farm where he resided since that time.

He was very active in town and county affairs and served as town supervisor and town Chairman for several years.

He was untied in marriage to Tora Lee of Thorp on Dec. 25, 1906, who preceded him in death in 1941. Surviving him are one sons Willis of Eidsvold, and one daughter, Evelyn, Mrs. Glen Richardson of Hialeah, Florida; tow sisters, Cora, Mrs. Martin Lubner and Netty, Mrs. Carl Hanson, both of Charles City, Ill.; two brothers, Vedell of Eidsvold and Ernest of Hialeah, Fla.; and seven grandchildren. His parents, one brother, and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Plombon Funeral Home at Stanley at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. John Mason officiating, and interment following in Evergreen Cemetery.
