On Monday Chas. Grow received a telegram from W. F. Hintz, of Fifield, stating that one P. P. Pixley, who has obtained goods, at his store, under false pretenses, had take the train that day, for down the line, and that his apprehension was necessary. The matter was placed in the hands of Geo. Wilson, our efficient constable, who boarded the train as it steamed in at the depot, found Mr. P. and then began telling him how sorry he was, but it was his imperative duty to arrest him or get a certain amount of money. As the train was about to start off, with a prisoner, Mr. P’s wife dished up the cash and Geo. left the train highly elated with the success of his mission.

Henry Siegrist is having his building, on the corner of Front and Clark streets, rearranged and fitted with shelving, on which to place the large and excellent assortment of boots and shoes, that he has purchased. Henry is a connoisseur of boots and shoes , and he will keep nothing buy the very best stock to be found. I you want good goods cheap, call on him.
It is very common now for a young lady to squeeze five feet in number four shoes, and go out to play lawn billiards.
