Mrs. Christine Kern passed away at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at the home of her son John, after a lingering illness.
Christine Catharine Spehn was born April 25, 1865 in Fountain City, Wis. She was united in marriage to James Kern in 1883.
She was preceded in death by her husband Feb. 12, 1930, one daughter in 1886, one son William in 1945. Mrs. Kern is survived by three sons and two daughters, John, Severin and James of Stanley, Mrs. Esther (Frank) Brotz of Stanley and Mrs. Mildred (Edward) Erickson of Gilman. Four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. R. R. Risser of Winona, Minn. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, St. Mary’s Circle and St. Mary’s Guild.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Church Saturday morning at 9:30, Rev. Ralph Geissler officiating. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Francis Ouimet, Henry Hagenson, Frank Keraly Sr., Frank Seidl, Walter Aumann and Ray Forster. Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were Miss Emma Zepp, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Zepp and son Francis and Mrs. Paul Apts of Fountain City; Mrs. Rosena Vater of Winona; Mrs. Ed Junemann, Mrs. Laura Junemann and Mrs. John Frodl of Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kass of Thorp, Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Mousette and children of Chippewa Falls.
