Deutschlander, John, Mr./Mrs. (50th - 4 APR 1953)
The children of Mr. and Mrs. John Deutschlander entertained their parents to a golden celebration which was held at the PNA Hall in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on Saturday, April 11, 1953. Mr. and Mrs. Deutschlander were married in Thorp April 4, 1903. They are the parents of six children, Miss Louise Deutschlander (Alma), Mrs. Jerry Slovacek of Chicago (Emily), Mrs. Leon Kudingo, Emil, Henry, and Edward, all of Thorp.
The celebration consisted of a dinner at noon for the immediate family. A six o’clock dinner was served to 400 relatives and friends.
The tables were beautifully decorated with cut flowers and a four tier wedding cake decorated with gold roses to suit the occasion was the attractive center piece of the honored couples table. This cake was baked by a friend of Chicago especially for this event.
The hall was beautifully decorated with gold streamers and gold wedding bells.
The evening was spent with dancing and a grand march which was lead by their granddaughter Dorothy Deutschlander followed by their 14 grandchildren, the honored couple and their family.
The bride of fifty years was altered in a dress of bronze lace designed and made by her sister, Mrs. Joseph Bona of Chicago for the occasion. She wore black accessories and wore an orchid corsage.
The daughters wore corsages of yellow roses and the daughters-in-law wore red rose corsages, and the couples bridesmaid, Mrs. Henry Thompson of Two Harbors, Minn., was also present and wore a corsage of red roses.
Best wishes were extended to Mr. and Mrs. Deutschlander by their many friends.
They also received many lovely gifts and a large purse of money.
