Darton, Florence E. (14 MAR 1858 - 30 MAY 1945)
Mrs. Florence E. Darton was born on Mar. 14, 1858, in Atwater and passed away on May 30 at her home in Sherman Oaks, Cal. Mrs. Darton, the former Florence Barker, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Barker, who lived in Loyal for many years.
She taught school in Clark county and there met and married Fred M. Darton on Apr. 28, 1880. To this union were born three children: Mrs. Gertrude A. King of Hollywood, Cal., Frank Darton of San Jose, Cal., and Mrs. Alice D. Marrs of Sherman Oaks. Mr. Darton passed away in Minneapolis in 1927.
There are also four grandchildren: Mrs. Robert Locke of Venice, Cal., daughter of Mrs. King; Lyell Darton, radar technician in the U. S. air forces, son of Frank Darton; Mrs. Donna McEwen of Sherman Oaks and Lt. Robert E. Allbee, army air force pilot now serving in the south-west Pacific, daughter and son, respectively, of Mrs. Marrs.
Mrs. Darton was a charter member of the local Royal Neighbor chapter, a member of the Lynhurst chapter of the Eastern Star in Minneapolis and a member of the 17th Church of Christ Scientist in Hollywood.
A Christian Scientist service was read by Alexander Swan in the Wee Kirk of the Heather church at Forest Lawn, Cal., at 10 a.m. June 4. Cremation followed. The urn was placed in the beautiful Eventide Hillside of Forest Lawn Memorial park, Glendale, Cal.
The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a loved one.
