Green, Phillip (24 May 1916 - 15 Aug. 1947)

Funeral services for Phillip Green, 31, who died at his home at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, were held at the Curtiss Congregational church at Curtiss, at 2:00 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. C. S. Matthias officiating. Internment was made in the Pine Hill cemetery.

The pallbearers were Alfred Thompson, Wilfred Marcott, Floyd Buchanan, Calvin Krause, Wayne Olson and Kenneth Herrick.

The flowers were carried by Mrs. George Edwards and Mrs. Wilfred Marcott, who also sang at the funeral services.

Phillip Green was born May 24, 1916, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Green, and lived all his life in Curtiss. He had been ill with the flu and pneumonia developed, causing his death after a week’s illness.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Minnie Green, his father, having preceded him in death in 1924; two sisters, Mrs. Leland (Eleanore) Smiley, Curtiss, and Miss Ruth Green, R.N., Los Angeles, Calif.; and three brothers, Robert Green, La Crosse; the Rev. Roger Green, Eaton, Colo.; and Neil Green, Curtiss, all of whom attended the funeral.

Among relatives and friends from Abbotsford who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Neitzel, and daughter, Mrs. Calvin Stombeck, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Knight, Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Haack, Mrs. Myra Hawks, Mrs. Winifred Holliday and Mrs. John Ravey.

Relatives and friends contributed a memorial fund of $110 which is being divided equally for the mission work in which Miss Juanita Kluve, a former Curtiss resident, is engaged in Nigeria, South Africa, and the home missions.
