Harmen, Billy (24 Sept. 1942 - 26 Aug. 1947)
Funeral services for Billy Harmen, who was instantly killed in an accident early Tuesday evening, were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby at 10:00 o’clock, Saturday morning, and burial will be made in Loyal. The Rev. Francis Brockman, of St. Bernard’s church, Abbotsford, will officiate.
The accident occurred early Tuesday evening at the Nall service station at Spencer. Billy accompanied his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chariton, of St. Paul, who have been here the past few weeks, looking for a farm. When the rain came early in the evening, they drove in at a farm and waited for the weather to clear. As they neared Spencer, they had a flat tire and stopped at the service station to fix it. Billy got out of the car and was watching the train when a large truck, which had stopped at the same station for gas and oil, backed over him and crushed his skull. The driver of the truck, evidently unaware of the accident, drove on and was contacted at Stevens Point.
Billy was born on Sept. 24, 1942 and has one brother, 10, in St. Paul, and a sister, 12, in California. He has a three months old half sister, Sharon Rae Chariton, who is also here with her parents, at the home of her grand mother, Mrs. Cecelia Chariton.
