Schwarze, William J. #3 (19 SEP 1875 - 4 JAN 1952)

Funeral services were held at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, Greenwood, for Wm. J. Schwarze Sr. on Tuesday, Jan. 8th, with the Rev. Charles Koch officiating. He was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.

During the service Mrs. Daniel Olson and Bob Unger sang "Rock of Ages," accompanied by Mrs. Adolph Meyer at the organ.

The pallbearers were: Otto Abel, Frank Rajk, Don Warner, Gilbert Meyer, Robert McConnell and Jake Speich.

Mr. Schwarze was born Sept. 19, 1875 in Plymouth, Wis. He received his education in Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), and also attended the La Crosse Business Institute. His marriage to the former Alma Rindfleisch took place at Wausau Dec. 24, 1908. Mr. Schwarze had been a resident of Greenwood the past 27 years.

He served as city clerk of Greenwood and was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department for approximately 30 years, and also belonged to Zion Reformed Church.

He is survived by six sons, Ernest of Monroe; Arnold and Harold, La Crosse; Wm. Jr., Milwaukee; Paul, Racine, Donald, U.S. Navy; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Arlene) Mason, Delavan; Miss Gertrude Schwarze, Los Angeles; and Mrs. Lloyd (Celia) Halvorson, Hillman, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Arthur, Greenwood, and Alfred, McAllen, Texas, and a sister, Mrs. Clara Wohlfeil, Watertown.

His wife, 3 brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
