Henke, Dorothy (25 AUG 1953)

Miss Dorothy Henke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Henke of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of John L. Wozniak, Stanley on Tuesday morning, Aug. 25th, 1953. St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp, was the setting for the nine o’clock nuptial mass with Rev. A. M. Muckerheide of Thorp performing the double ring ceremony.

Gladioli bouquests decorated the altar for the service.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father. She wore a white Chantilly lace gown over satin fashioned with a fitted bodice, long sleeves, sheer yoke and lace over skirt edged with wide nylon pleating. A cascade of pleated ruffles formed the bustle back of the skirt that ended in a chapel train. Holding her silk illusion fingertip veil was a white satin crown and orange blossoms. She carried a white prayer book, a gift of the groom, topped with red roses and rosebud streamers.

Miss Lorraine Skaleski was maid of honor and Miss Dolores Henke, twin sister of the bride and Miss Marion Henke, also a sister, and Miss Beverly Parks served as bridesmaids. They wore gowns of melon and blue fashioned identically of net over taffeta with fitted bodices and short satin jackets. The had matching half hats and gloves and each carried a fan-shaped bouquet of yellow mums.

Raymond Headrick of Stanley acted as best man. Donald Tinjum of Stanley and Ronald Weit of Abbotsford were groomsmen.

Lawrence Henke and Raymond Graham of Owen ushered.

The mother of the bride pinned a pink corsage on her tan linen costume. The groom’s mother wore a similar corsage on her navy blue dress.

A buffet supper was served at St. Bernard’s parish hall for 150 guests.

After a trip to Canada Mr. and Mrs. Wozniak will reside on the groom’s farm in Stanley. For traveling the bride wore a white linen costume with red accessories.
