Woempner, Alice Marcella (Marriage - 27 Dec. 1947)

Miss Alice Marcella Woempner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woempner, became the bride of Wilmer Paul, town of Hoard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paul, of Mercer, on Saturday, Dec. 27, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, at Dorchester, Wis. Vows were exchanged in a single ring ceremony at 3:00 o’clock with the Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating.

During the ceremony, Gordon Leonhardt sang "I Love You Truly" and "O Perfect Love," accompanied at the organ by Herbert Juneau, who also played the wedding marches.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white gown made with a jersey tunic and full rayon marquisette skirt. Her long veil, edged in Chantilly lace, was caught to a pearl beaded halo. She wore a gold locket which her mother had worn at her wedding. Her bouquet was composed of white chrysanthemums and red roses from which showered white streamers and baby mums.

Attending the couple were the bride’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Skoog, Prentice. Miss Myrtle Keller, of Dorchester, a friend of the bride, and Raymond Paul, Curtiss, brother of the groom were the other attendants.

Acting as ushers were Norman Zeuther and Marvin Busse.

Mrs. Skoog, as matron of honor, wore a gown of light blue; Miss Keller wore one of pink. They were similarly styled with jersey tunics, cap sleeves and marquisette skirts. They wore matching hats with open crowns and marquisette brims, and carried colonial bouquets.

The bride’s mother wore a light gray suit of wool gabardine with pink and black accessories. The groom’s mother wore a black silk crepe dress, accented by a gold pin and black accessories. Both mothers had identical corsages of pink and white chrysanthemums, tied with pink ribbons.

Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served 50 guests in the church parlors, decorated for the occasion in white, blue and pink streamers. Centering the bridal table was a beautifully decorated four tier wedding cake, topped by a miniature bride and groom, and white tapers.

In the evening a reception, which was attended by 60 relatives and friends, was held at the home of the bride’s parents, in Abbotsford, Wis.

Among those from away who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paul, of Mercer, Miss Lorraine Paul, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Keskimski, of Withee; Laurie Keskimski, of Owen; Otto, Arthur and Raymond Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Voightlander, of Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Joel Skoog and son, Vaughn, of Prentice; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Benzman, of Milan.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul are at home to friends on the groom’s farm, town of Hoard. The bride, who is a graduate of the Abbotsford high school, class of 1944, and Taylor County Normal School, class of 1946, taught the Park school the past year and a half and will continue there as teacher.
