James E. Hinker, 70, Greenwood, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, from 9 a.m., until time of services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Joseph Follmar will officiate.
James Edwin Hinker was born on May 12, 1939, in Greenwood, to Sylvester and Barbara (nee Pink) Hinker. He was raised in Greenwood and received his education at St. Mary’s Catholic School and Greenwood High School. He went to work for Wuethrich’s Creamery (Grassland Dairy Products), Greenwood, in September 1955. He enlisted in the Army National Guard on June 28, 1959, and served until his honorable discharge on June 27, 1965. He returned to Greenwood and continued working at Wuethrich’s. He married Carolyn S. Pagelsdorf on June 11, 1066, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Loyal. They lived in Greenwood and he worked at Grassland Dairy Products until retiring in 2003 after 48 years of employment.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Greenwood American Legion Post #238, the Greenwood Lion’s Club, and the Dairyland Fox & Coon Hunters Club, where he served as president for many years. He had many interests, but especially enjoyed time with his family, hunting, watching sports, bowling, softball and golfing.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Carolyn, Greenwood; three children, Scott (Jennifer) Hinker, Wausau, Shelli (Greg) LaBarre, Eau Claire, and Susan (Kevin) Yeske, Auburndale; eight grandchildren, Trevor, Colten, Makenna, Lucas, Emma, Lauren, Claire and Hannah; one sister, JoAnn (Lester) Kaiser, Hewitt; six brothers, Gene (Marilyn) Hinker, Loyal, Ronald (Audrey) Hinker, Wausau, Francis (Corrine) Hinker, Marshfield, Allen (Sandra) Hinker, Greenwood, Robert (Donna) Hinker, Greenwood, and Bill Hinker, Greenwood; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Hinker, Greenwood and Sharon Hinker, Cape May, N.J.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Larry Hinker and Jerry Hinker.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in his name.
