First of War Dead Arrives Here For Burial Services

The body of Isadore Hackel, a marine private, who was killed at Iwo Jima, March 13, 1945, was brought to Abbotsford this morning from where H. O. Zink took it to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hackel, town of Holton.

A requiem high mass will be sung at St. Thomas’ Catholic church, at Milan, Friday morning at 9:30 and internment will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery with military honors.

The Rev. Raymond Schulz will be the officiating clergyman.

Isadore Otto Hackel was born in the town of Holton, Jan. 26, 1919, received his education at Wright School there, and was married at St. Thomas’ Catholic Church at Milan to Rose Sybeldon, Aug. 12, 1940. He was a truck driver for the Laabs Cheese company, Milan, until he was inducted into the Marine Corps June 26, 1944. He left for overseas service in the Pacific Theatre of Operations in November, 1944.

His widow, Mrs. Rose Hackel, and children, Daniel and Carol, reside at Medford. An infant son, John, died in December, 1945. His parents, brothers, Raymond and Howard, and sister, Cecelia, and Marie, live in the town of Holton.
