Clintsman, Ellen (14 February 1869 - 16 January 1952)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Clintsman, 82, who died Wednesday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the Grace Methodist Church. The Rev. Lee Holmes officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. During the services Miss Evangeline Sheets and Mrs. Chal Perkins accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Don Warner, sang, "Asleep in Jesus", "In the Garden", and "Beyond the Sunset".

 

Pallbearers were all grandsons, Teddy and Robert Clintsman, Donald, Victor and James Berthold and Vernon Turner.

 

Flowers were in charge of granddaughters, Mrs. Willis (Irene) Hohman, Misses Shirley and Nellie Clintsman, Miss Lorraine Berthold and Mrs. Donald (Nettie) Berthold.

 

Mrs. Clintsman, the former Ellen Barnett, was born February 14, 1869, in Greenleaf. At the age of eight, she moved with her parents to Concordia, Kans. Her marriage to the Rev. Charles Clintsman took place there in 1888. In 1891, the Clintsman’s moved to the Town of York, Clark County, and in 1920 they moved to a farm 8 miles southeast of Greenwood.

 

After the death of her husband in 1926, Mrs. Clintsman lived with her children for six years. In 1932, she went to live with her brother, Warren Barnett, a few miles from Greenwood and 12 years ago they moved to the city.

 

Funeral services were attended by her three sons and their wives and children, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Clintsman and son, Robert, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Clintsman and family; and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clintsman and family of Greenwood; and her four daughters, Miss Inez Clintsman of Greenwood, Mrs. Ollie Leininger of Oshkosh, Mrs. Rachel Brager of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Celia Berthold of Willard.

 

Besides her seven children she is survived by 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Warren Barnett of Greenwood; and three sisters, Mrs. Etta Schuman of South Beloit, Ill., Mrs. Abbie Nord, of Park Rapids, Minn,; and Mrs. Clara Br (unreadable) of Neillsville.

 

Her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Verna Turner, three sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
