Barney Huls passed away of old age infirmities at Stanley on Wednesday evening, Sept. 30, 1953. He had reached the age of 83 years, 7 months, 19 days.
He was born on Feb. 11, 1870 in Holland and came to this country with his parents when he was 1 ½ years old making their home at Hollandtown in Calumet County. About fifty-six years ago he came to the Stanley country where he resided on a farm two miles southeast of there. He also lived at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) for a number of years thus being well known to folks of the Thorp and Stanley Country.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Vanderloop of West Worden and Mrs. Hattie Haas of Stanley with whom he made his home the last few years, and many nieces and newphews.
Funeral services were held at St. Ann’s Church at Stanley on Saturday, Oct. 3, 1953 and burial was made in St. Bernard’s Cemetery of Thorp.
Serving as pallbearers were Math Lauer, Jacob Brown, Theodore Heiting, Nick Jankoski, Geo. Lawrence and Roman Streit.
Those from away attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Emmers and John Emmers of Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Al Gauther of De Pere; Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson of Green Bay; Arnold Huls of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. John Capaul of Cornell; Mrs. Bill Nesvasci and Mrs. La Verne Roth of Cadott; Henry Haks, Alta Siehr and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Haks of Menasha.
