Sierocuk, Verne (26 SEP 1953)
On Saturday, Sept. 26, 1953 Miss Verne Sierocuk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sierocuk, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Mr. Ray Rueger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rueger, Chicago. A simple afternoon ceremony was performed by the bride’s cousin, Rev. Thomas O’brycki, assisted by Rev. Frank Wachowski at St. Joseph and St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
The bride wore a gown of Celanese satin fashioned with an off shoulder neckline and full skirt with orange blossom appliqué and was sprinkled with iridescent rhinestones. A coronation crown held her fingertip veil and she carried an orchid upon a white prayer book showered with stephanotis.
While a solo, "Mother At Your Feet I Am Kneeling," was sung by Lillian Przywara, the bride place a bouquet of white mums at the altar of the Blessed Virgin.
Miss Helen Przywara, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Harriet Sierocuk, sister of the bride, and Kay Leja, friend of the bride.
Cynthia Wojtowicz, niece of the bride, served as flower girl, and Daniel Contorno, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.
Arabian green silk shantung gowns were worn by the maid of honor, bridesmaids, and flower girl. The strapless waltz length dresses were styled with flared skirts and velvet jackets. Gold sandals and crown completed the ensemble. They carried bouquets of bronze chrysanthemums and wore pearl earrings, gift of the bride.
Leo Rueger, served as his brother’s best man and Peter O’brycki as groomsman. They wore black tuxedos and carnation boutonnieres.
Mrs. Sierocuk chose navy blue for the occasion while the bridegroom’s mother wore powder blue. Orchid corsages were pinned to their costumes.
Guests were received at a 6 o’clock reception at the Wojcik’s Hall, Chicago.
The young couple left on a honeymoon to California.
Guests from Thorp who were present were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sierocuk, Henry Sierocuk, Harriet Sierocuk, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hedler and Dennis, Mrs. Robert Weseman and Beverly, and Geraldyne Hedler.
