Malecki, Lorraine (28 SEP 1953)

On Monday morning, Sept. 28th, 1953 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Lorraine Malecki, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) became the bride of Raymond Venet. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Malecki, Thorp, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Venet of Withee. Rev. Francis Piekarski officiated at the 10 a.m. double ring ceremony.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a beautiful gown of Chantilly lace and tulle with a fitted low bodice and stand up collar seeded with pearl and sequin trim. Her full skirt had tiers of pleated nylon ruffles down the front. Her veil of imported silk illusion was attached to a coronation crown of pearls and sequin flowers. Her full train of lace fell over satin lining. She carried a wedding ring bouquet of red roses and white carnations, and wore a rhinestone necklace and earrings, a gift of the groom.

The bridesmaids, Theresa Wargolet, friend of the bride, Cathy Ratschak, friend of the groom, Harriet Malecki, sister of the bride, and Alice Mroz, friend of the bride, all wore identical blue strapless gowns of taffeta with nylon net. Their fitted bodice and taffeta jackets were sand up collars. The full skirts were nylon net over taffeta. They wore coronations crowns of matching color and flower trimmed. All bridesmaids wore white lace hankies at the wrist and carried unusual bouquets of yellow roses and white carnations entwined in blue wedding ring hoops.

The bride chose her sister Sharon as flower girl. She was dressed in blue tulle made with illusion neckline and rows of tiny ruffles over a full gathered skirt and hipline. She wore a matching half hat and carried a small bouquet identical to that of the bridesmaids. Her gift consisted of rhinestone and cloisonné necklace and bracelet. The bride’s gift to her attendants were rhinestone necklaces.

Attending the groom were Richard Malecki, brother of the bride, as best man, DuWayne Venet, brother of the groom, Joe Hnatko, friend of the groom, and Bernard Franckiewicz, friends of the groom. All wore dark midnight blue suits and white carnations in their lapels.

Mr. and Mrs. Al Ciolkosz sang "On This Day, O Beautiful Mother," while the bride place a bouquet of white pompom chrysanthemums at the altar of the Blessed Virgin, while the groom said a prayer to St. Joseph.

Both mothers wore dresses of navy blue and had corsages of red roses.

Dinner at 12 o’clock was served to about 75 relatives and friends at St. Hedwig’s Hall. A 6:30 reception was given to about 150 families of relatives, friends and neighbors. Music was furnished by Emil Kodl and orchestra.

The bride is a graduate of the Thorp High School and was employed at the Thorp Courier office. The groom is a graduate of the Withee High School and was in the U. S. Army for two years and served 12 months in Korea.
