Reeves, Henry A. (14 Feb. 1866 - 7 Dec. 1948)

Henry A. Reeves, Sr., 82 years old, a resident of the Colby vicinity since he was 14 years old, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, at St. Francis’ hospital, La Crosse, where he was a patient for ten days.

For the past two years he had been making his home at St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged at La Crosse.

Mr. Reeves was born Feb. 14, 1866, at Portage and came to this locality with his parents at the age of 14.

On July 25, 1893, he was married to Catherine Watenpohl, who preceded him in death June 7, 1948. Mr. and Mrs. Reeves observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1943.

Surviving are three sons, Henry, Jr., of Colby, John, of Milwaukee; and Harold, of Abbotsford; a daughter, Mrs. William (Neva) Harry, Colby; a brother, William, Lake Bay, Wash.; 12 grand children; and seven great grand children.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9:30 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic church, at Colby, the Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating at the Requiem High Mass. Internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

Out of town persons who attended were John Reeves and Garry Reeves, Milwaukee; Ronald Reeves, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Reeves, Abbotsford; Mrs. Dena Meach and Mrs. Leonard Johnson, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Travis, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Rahl, Augusta; Mrs. Henry Wydevein, and Mrs. Walter Potz, Spencer.
