Schaefer, Caroline (18 Apr. 1865 - 17 Mar. 1949)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Schaefer, who died at Waupaca Thursday afternoon were held Sunday afternoon, March 20, at 2:00 o’clock from the Zink Funeral Home where the body had been lying in state. The Rev. Fred Smith, of Colby, officiated at the services which were followed by internment at Chili.

 

The pallbearers were Leo Banditt, George Heida, John Hutt, Walter Jackson, Harry Ketcham, and Leighton Stoker.

 

Caroline Byron Schafer was born in Germany April 18, 1865. She was married to Dr. F. A. Schaefer in Chicago in 1900 and for some years they made their home in Chicago, later moving to a farm near Chili. After Dr. Schaefer’s death, Mrs. Schaefer went to King, where for the past 15 years she resided at the Veteran’s Home. She became ill Tuesday and died there Thursday.

 

She is survived by three children, Charles, Abbotsford; and Fred and Mrs. Lucy Braceman, of Cedarville, Texas. Five grand children and four great grand children survive.

 

Mrs. Braceman and Mr. Schaefer came from Texas for the funeral.
