Zettler, Frank (1 May 1904 - 13 July 1949)
Frank Zettler, 45, town of Colby, died as a result of a highway accident, one mile west of Curtiss corners, Wednesday morning. Mr. Zettler was riding on top of a load of lumber being hauled to Owen for Earl Butler, who operates a saw mill west of Colby, when he slid off and was crushed under the sliding lumber.
The truck, being driven by Louis Beyerl, traveling west on a part of Highway 29 under construction, turned out to make room for an oncoming car. As he came back he hit loose gravel, piled in the middle of the road, whereupon the lumber started to slip.
The funeral for Mr. Zettler will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 at St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby, Wis. The body is at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby, Wis.
Frank Zettler was born May 1, 1904, in Athens, and moved to Colby in 1934. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Frank Beyerl, Colby; brother, Anton Zettler, town of Hull; two half brothers, Gilbert Gieger, Madison; and Francis Beyerl, Colby, and a half sister, Mrs. Ernest Feind, town of Colby, Wis.
