Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Rachel Nagel, who died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leo Bumann, were held this morning at 9:30 at St. Bernard’s Catholic church. The Rev. Raymond Schulz sang the requiem high mass, after which internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bill Beil, Walter Hopperdietzel, Clarence Kramer, Raymond Kadonksy, A. J. Schmirler and George Vetter.
Mary Rachel Alber was born March 31, 1879, in Rubicon, Wis. On June 25, 1901, she was married to William Nagel, who had gone to Loyal from Dodge county in 1899 and cleared a farm where they lived until 1920 when they came to Abbotsford, Wis. Four children were born to them.
After the death of Mr. Nagel, Feb. 24, 1945, Mrs. Nagel continued to make her home here. She was ill the past three weeks and death came Monday morning, Aug. 29, at 10:25, attributed to virus pneumonia and complications.
She was an honorary member of St. Bernard’s Altar Society.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Lucille) Brecke, and Mrs. Leo (Florence) Bumann, of Abbotsford; eight grand children, Joanne, John and Dennis Brecke, Mary and Jean Bumann, Abbotsford; Robert Tesmer, Van Nuys, Cal.; Ray Tesmer, Beufort, S.C.; and Mrs. John (Betty Tesmer) Danley, Kansas City, Mo. There are two great grand children, John Danley and Linda Tesmer, of Van Nuys.
She is also survived by a brother, Fred Alber, Milwaukee, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Schladweiler, Spring Valley, and Mrs. Carl Kersting, White Lake, South Dakota.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Tesmer, who died in 1931, and three brothers, Frank, Mike, and Charles, and one sister, Eva.
Among the relatives from away who attended the funeral were Fred Alber and Mrs. Florence Hildebrandt, Milwaukee; Miss Edith Emling, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schladweiler, Spring Valley; Mrs. Ephraim Parrish, and nephew, Gene Parrish, Durand; Virgil Alber, Tomahawk; Mrs. Beatrice Kelly, Sioux Falls, Wis.; Mrs. Anton Bumann, Tony and Miss Agatha, Marathon; Mr. and Mrs. Reinhard Peiper, August Peiper, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Peiper, Mrs. William Fohrman, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Dutter and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Emling, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs.George Platteter, and Melvin Brecke, Stetsonville.
