Parge, Mr./Mrs. Henry (50th Anniv. - 29 Apr. 1950)
Friends and neighbors and the children and grand children of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Parge helped them celebrate their golden wedding anniversary at their home in the town of Holton, Saturday evening.
On April 29, 1900, the Misses Ida and Minnie Freimund, sisters, became brides in a double ceremony performed by the Rev. William George in the Lutheran church in the town of Holton. Miss Ida Freimund became the bride of Henry Parge and Minnie Freimund became the bride of Frank Allar.
Attendants were Mrs. Paul Benzman, of Milan, Adolph Kalepp, Emma Parge, now Mrs. Albert Ewert, and Ed Schaus.
For three years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Parge lived at Dorchester where he was a cheese maker. In 1903 they moved to the place where they now live, three and one-half miles northeast of here. He operated a cheese factory there for three years until the plant, which Mr. Parge did not rebuild, was destroyed by fire.
Mr. Parge retired from cheese making about 25 years ago and for the past five years has rented his farm land. The Parges, with their oldest son, Arthur, still live on the farm.
They have three children, Arthur, Otto, who lives on a farm near Milan, and Mrs. Paul (Alma) Bedrosky, on a farm near Dorchester, Wis. There are six grand children.
Mr. Parge, who was born Sept. 14, 1873, at Cedarburg, Wis., came with his parents when only a child and lived on a small farm near Dorchester, Wis. He has three sisters: Mrs. George (Alma) Baehr, Withee; Mrs. Anna Baehr, Abbotsford; and Mrs. Albert (Emma) Ewert, Fond du Lac; two brothers, August and Martin, in California; Charles in Vancouver, and Otto in British Columbia. Three brothers, Ed, Albert, and Herman, and one sister, Lizzie, are deceased.
Mrs. Parge was born Nov. 26, 1879, in the town of Holton. She has four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Minnie) Allar, Mrs. Emil (Alvina) Taxis, and Mrs. Ed (Emma) Schaus, in Chicago; and Mrs. Amanda Brusewitz, at Spencer, and one brother, Charles, in Brantwood. Two brothers, Herman and Otto, are deceased.
