Mrs. Louisa Horn, nee Louis Braun, daughter of
William and Anna (Torsen) Braun, was born Dec. 24, 1854 in Reisenberg, West
Priten, Germany. She came to the United States with her parents at the age of
18, settling in Sheboygan County. She was married to Frank Horn on May 7, 1876
in Sheboygan.
They came to Clark County in 1878 and settled on a farm in
what is now known as the braun Settlement. Her husband passed away April 15,
1917, and two years later she moved to Greenwood, where she resided until the
time of her death.
Mrs. Horn passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 1952 at her
home at Greenwood. She was charter member of the Salem Evangelical and Reformed
Church, Braun Settlement, and after moving to town has been a long time member
of Zion Church here and of the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by two sons,
Frank of Tacoma, Wash.; and William of Greenwood; two daughters, Mrs. Bertha
Karsten of Abbotsford; and Miss Martha Horn at home; eight grandchildren, 11
great-grandchildren. Two sons, Otto and Gust, and four brothers, Christian,
Frederick, William and Godfrey, and two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Christina) Horn
and Mrs. Eva Braun preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted
Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1:30 p.m. from the home and 2:00 from Zion Evangelical and
Reformed church, Rev. Charles A. Koch officiating. Burial was in the Braun
Settlement Cemetery (Forest Hill).
During the service, the Senior Choir
of the West Side Church, composed of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Reineking, Mr. and Mrs.
Theo Kippenhan, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Franz, Otto Fravert and the Mmes. Geo.
Humke, Phillip Vollrath, and Clara Liebzeit sang "Asleep in Jesus" and Harre
Meinde Seele," accompanied by Mrs. Otto Fravert at the organ.
The
pallbearers, who were nephews, were: John Speich, Ed Braun, George Braun, Hubert
Horn, Otto Horn and Arthur Horn.
The flowers were in charge of members of
the Ladies Aid, Mmes. Gilbert Meyer, Charles Ludwig, Robert Schneider and Mrs.
Louise Keiner.
Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Bertha
Karsten, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Boss, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Seibold, Abbotsford; Mr.
and Mrs. Harry Karsten, Ronald and Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Kraut, Beverly

Minnie Egget, Spencer.
