Mrs. Frank Champa, 74, of the town of Hendren, Willard
(Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at her farm home on Friday, Jan. 11, 1952 at
approximately 11:00 p.m. from pneumonia.
Funeral services were conducted
at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 1952, with a
Requiem High Mass at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Father Augustine Svete
officiating. She was laid to rest in the parish cemetery beside her husband.
Ursula Strojan was born in Yugoslavia on Aug. 16, 1877 to Frank Strojan and
Ursula Koschak. She came to the United States while still very young and the
family settled in Ely, Minn. While there she was united in marriage to Frank
Champa on Oct. 8, 1904. They resided there until 1910, when they moved to the
present farm near Willard, which at the time was only wild land. They have
resided there ever since.
Three children were born to this union: Ann and
John at home and Fannie of Cleveland, Ohio. Surviving is also one grandchild,
Mary Susan Champa.
A general rosary was recited at the home Monday night.
She was a member of the Christian Mother's Society.
She was preceded in
death by her husband Frank, who passed away May 6, 1945; three sisters, one
brother and her parents.
The pallbearers were Ludwig Perushek, Frank
Francel Sr., Frank Morgal Jr., Joseph Tolaney, Paul Oblack Sr. and John Pernic.
Those from away who attended the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Champa Jr. of
Cleveland, Ohio.
