Vick, Henry (15 MAR 1857 - 2 NOV 1945)

Funeral services for Henry Vick, 86, who passed away at his home in the village on Friday, Nov. 2, were conducted at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. J. C. Langholz officiating. Death followed an illness of about four weeks.

The son of Carl and Elizabeth Vick, the deceased was born in Sheboygan county on Mar 15, 1857. He was baptized in Sheboygan Falls in 1859 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the same city in 1873.

He took Sophia Paltow as his wife on Nov. 5, 1885, in Plymouth. They moved to Clark county in 1906, coming to Loyal in 1918, when one of the sons took over the farm interests, and Mr. and Mrs. Vick moved to the village. Mr. Vick was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church and also served a term on the village board.

He had been in his usual good health until a few weeks ago. He became a patient at St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield, but his advanced age was against his recovery, and death came at his home here at 6 o’clock Friday morning. His life of integrity and uprightness won for him many friends in this community.

Surviving besides his wife, are two sons, Clarence Vick of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Edgar Vick of Loyal; a daughter, Mrs. Jacob (Vera) Henseler Jr., of Loyal; three sisters, Lizzie Pierce of Sheboygan Falls, Sophia TerMatt of Cedar Grove and Mary Dekker of Sheboygan; a half-sister, Emma Thomas, of Sheboygan Falls; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers at the funeral were R. A. Prior, Frank Luchterhand, Jacob Henseler Sr., Frank Coryall, Vern Millard and Orin Trindal. The Flowers were carried by Margaret Herdrich, Joyce Herdrich, Ilene Rowley, Marliss Uhrig, Noreen Tucker, and Gwendolyn Tucker.

The hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "Sometime We’ll Understand," were sung by Mrs. William Rottjer, Mrs. Erwin Dux, Leonard Noeldner and Herman Noeldner, accompanied by Mrs. Marvin Seeman.

Relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral were: Clarence Vick and Mrs. William Cooper of Oklahoma City, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Littlefield and Mrs. Lizzie Pierce of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Ferdinand De Sombre and Misses Lorna Mae and Maridean Vick of Eau Claire, Mrs. Mary Dekker, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dirkse, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Kolberg and Mr. and Mrs. George TerMatt, all of Sheboygan.

To the survivors, The Tribune extends its sympathy.
