R. J. Emerson last Sunday was the victim of the biggest fishing exploit of the season.  With his two brothers, Alfred and Arnold, he was fishing in the Chippewa River below the Yellow River Bridge.  Mr. Emerson hooked a big muskie that he estimates would weight 25 or 30 pounds.  For an hour he played with the big fellow and five times brought it to the shore only to have the muskie dive back to deeper water. 

Finally Mr. Emerson threw the whale on a sloping bank and the fish cast the hook out and the fisherman grabbed the big fellow, but the fish and man began to slide into the stream and the muskie, by lively twisting, got under water again.  Mr. Emerson in despair realized his magnificent prize was about to elude him.  But he held the fish and to make shure he sat on it, calling to the other members of the party to help him.  As he sat down his head went under water.

 But the fish struggled terrifically and pulled Mr. Emerson farther into the stream.  He was completely under the water and the fish pulled him 30 or 40 feet into the stream.  Mr. Emerson was compelled to let go and he came up near mid stream where he was helped to shore by his brothers in the boat.  In spite of his submarine experience he was able to vigorously protest his bad luck in letting the fish get away.  This is a true story.
