Perkins, Mert (10 Jul 1909)

Saturday was Mert Perkins’ birthday and his wife got up a surprise party on him.  Under the guise of preparing refreshments for a surprise party on a friend, Mrs. Perkins prepared for the party right under Mert’s nose.  But all the details did not work out just right, for Mert went to lodge that night and in trying to balance up a quarterly report, stayed away until 11:40.  But when he did get home the assembled guests made the surprise complete, and the evening proved a highly enjoyable one.
