George F. Jacques died Friday morning, Feb. 18th, 1910, at his home in this city, and was buried Sunday afternoon from the residence on the north side (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.). He had been sick for almost two years and gradually grew weaker until the end.
Mr. Jacques was born in Nova Scotia July 12, 1838. In 1844 he emigrated with his parents to Wisconsin and settled in Delafield, Waukesha Co. In 1816 he married Anna M. Spaulding. In 1874, with his wife and children, he removed to Calumet County, where he resided until 1881, when he removed to Loyal (Clark Co.), Wis., afterwards removing to Spencer, and in 1886 to Neillsville. Shortly after coming to Neillsville he settled on a farm in Pine Valley, where he cleared up and developed a very good dairy farm. About six years ago he rented his farm and removed to this city, where he has since resided.
For many eyars after coming to Clark County, eh was active in the stave and logging business, but in later years devoted himself to his farm.
Mr. Jacques had a hopeful, friendly disposition, and was a great favorite among the children of his acquaintance. He was a man of very strong political conviction, and took great pleasure in the discussion of public affairs. He was a great reader and deep thinker, and withal a splendid character, and his death is sincerely regretted by his many friends.
Mr. Jacques is survived by his wife and their two children, Mrs. F. O. Balch, now residing in Milwaukee, and George L. Jacque of this city.
