Sumpter, Juanita A. (16 FEB 1952)
The First Congregational Church, Union Grove, Wis., was the setting Saturday afternoon for the wedding of Miss Juanita Arminal Sumpter and Douglas Dale Sorenson, Madison. The Rev. Shirley Symmonds officiated at the rites which were followed by a buffet supper at the Masonic Temple in Union Grove.
The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Victor L. Sumpter, Union Grove. Mr. Sorenson is the son of the late Mr. Julius Sorenson of Owen (Clark Co.), Wis.
The bride wore a colonial style gown of candlelight satin with a hoop skirt. Chantilly lace formed a scalloped yoke on the fitted bodice and was appliquéd to her fingertip veil. White orchids and narcissuses were in her bouquet.
Her attendants wore American Beauty taffeta gowns with matching capes and poke bonnets. Cream colored roses were caught to their taffeta muffs.
Miss Beverly Peterson, Glenwood City, Wis., was maid of honor for her cousin. The bridal aides were Miss Marilyn McKay, Sheboygan, and Miss Lasetty Stansky, Racine.
Ralph Smith, Lake Geneva, Wis., waas best man. Seating the guests were Lester Hilden, Cashton, Wis. and Raymond Sajdak, Madison. The bridegroom’s nephew, Dennis Sorenson, N. 24th Pl., was ring bearer.
The newlyweds will live in Madison, where the bridegroom will continue his studies at the University of Wisconsin. Both he and his bride have received their bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the state university. She is a member of Sigma Epsilon Sigma and Phi Sigma, and he of Alpha Zeta and Phi Sigma.
