Mizell, Joyce (17 Aug. 1915 - 5 Sept. 1952)
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Meske Mizell, 37,
who was killed in an automobile Sept. 5, will be held at Christ
Lutheran church at Abbotsford, Friday afternoon at 2:00
o’clock. The Rev. F. H. Sprengler will officiate. Internment
will be made in the Holton cemetery.
The body was lying in state at the Zink Funeral
Home where it will be until 11:00 o’clock Friday morning. It
will then be taken to Christ Lutheran church where the remains may
be viewed until time for services.
Mrs. Mizell, who resided at Palo Alto, Calif.,
was on her way to work when the car she was driving plunged over a
cliff. She was alone in the car when the fatal accident occurred.
Joyce Meske, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meske, was born Aug. 17, 1915, in town of Holton, where she spent her girlhood and attended school. For seven she was employed at Chicago and in 1941 went to Alaska where she worked until February, 1943, when she went to the west coast and lived there since, with the exception of several trips home.
On Nov. 18, 1940, she was married to James Mizell
in California. To them were three children were born, all of whom
survive. They are Diane, 7, Bruce, 5, and Janice, 3. Mr. Mizell
died on Nov. 17, 1948.
Besides her children, Mrs. Mizell is survived by
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meske, Abbotsford, and a brother,
Milton, of Curtiss.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Meske Mizell, 37,
whose accidental death occurred Sept. 5, in Palo Alto, Calif., were
held at Christ Lutheran church, Abbotsford, Friday afternoon. The
Rev. F. H. Sprengler conducted the services at 2:00 o’clock,
during which the Misses Dorothy and Marilyn Kieser sang "Asleep in
Jesus," and "I’m But a Stranger Here." Internment was made in
the Holton cemetery.
The pallbearers were Ernest Boss, Alvin Jacobi,
Gilbert Grambort, Norman Gosse, of Abbotsford; Ed Grambort, Colby;
and William Fahrenbach, Curtiss.
The many beautiful floral offerings were in
charge of Miss Mary Ann Sulik and Mrs. Gilbert Grambort,
Abbotsford; Mrs. Frank Decker, Dorchester; Mrs. Paul Fricke, Owen;
Mrs. William Fahrenbach, Curtiss; and Mrs. Norman Singer,
Chelsea.
Relatives from away who attended the rites were Mrs. Emerson Mizell and Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Mizell, Jr., Memphis, Tenn.; Mrs. Robert Knoth and grand daughter, Carmen Ann, of Bloomington, Ill.; Mrs. Elizabeth Meyers, Mrs. Edward Brah, Mrs. Oscar Hamann and Mrs. Rudy Fuller, Milwaukee; Mrs. Emma Pohlman, Menomonie Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Wagner, Mrs. Harry Kuester and Alelbert Kuester, Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Johnson, Holcombe; Mr. and Mrs. Art Johnson, Duluth; Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Borgemoen and daughter, Arla Jean and Mrs. Norman Singer, Chelsea; and other relatives and friends from Dorchester, Colby, Curtiss, Owen, and Marshfield.
