Smith, Carole (Marriage - 7 Jan. 1953)
Miss Carole Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Smith, Abbotsford, became the bride of Gene Wilde, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Pete Wilde, of Colby, on Wednesday morning. Given in marriage
by her father, the double ring ceremony was read by the Rev. Frank
Brickl, in St. Mary’s Catholic church, followed by a nuptial
high mass at 9:00 o’clock.
The bride wore a ballerina length gown of white
satin designed with a strapless bodice and jacket with long
sleeves. The finger tip veil fell from a bonnet style head dress of
lace covered satin with seed pearl trim. She carried a sheaf
bouquet of calla lilies.
Mrs. Robert Wilde, Milwaukee, sister-in-law of
the groom, was matron of honor and Mr. Wilde was his
brother’s best man.
Mrs. James Wilde, another sister-in-law, of
Colby, and Jack Smith, brother of the bride, of Abbotsford, were
the other attendants.
Miss Christine Wilde, three-year-old daughter of
the Robert Wildes, was flower girl.
The frocks of the attendants were made alike and were ballerina length. Teal blue with white lace trim was chosen for the matron of honor, fuchsia, for the bridesmaid, and yellow for the flower girl. Their identically styled hats, matching their frocks, were trimmed with rhinestones and a veil. Cascade bouquets of white carnations tied with a bow to match their frocks were carried by the attendants, and a basket of flowers was carried by the flower girl. The bride and her attendants wore white satin opera pumps.
The men wore powder blue jackets and black
trousers.
A gray tailored suit was chosen by the
bride’s mother, while a dress of black and white was the
choice of the groom’s mother. Both wore black accessories and
had pink garnette corsages.
About 86 guests attended the dinner and reception
at St. Mary’s gymnasium from 12:00 to 2:00 o’clock. An
afternoon reception and 5:30 supper followed at the home of the
bride’s parents in Abbotsford, Wis. In the evening, the young
couple greeted more friends at a wedding dance at Dorchester
Memorial hall.
Guests at the wedding were from Milwaukee,
Rudolph, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, Bloomer, Medford, Eau
Claire, Wausau, Colby, and Abbotsford, Wis.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilde are making their home in Milwaukee where the groom is employed at the Colby-Abbott building.
