Lavin, Frank N. (December 21, 1916 - June
8, 2009)
Frank N. Lavin, 92, Medford, died Monday, June 8
at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where he had resided the past
seven months.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 12 at
noon at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in the Town of Holway, with
Pastor Kris Bjerke-Ulliman officiating. Burial will be at Our
Saviours Lutheran Church in the Town of Holway.
Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Neibacher, Howard Lavin and Harvey and Richard Halverson. Active pallbearers are Mark Bose, Clarence "Buddy" and David Beegle, Mike Emmerich, Mike and Marvin Lavin and Randy and Andy Kohl.
Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until
the time of the service.
Frank Lavin was born December 21, 1916 in the Town of Holway to the
late Thomas and Ida (Neitzel) Lavin. He attended Lincoln Elementary
School in the Town of Holway.
On June 28, 1969 in Racine, he married Arlyne W. Watson-Kohl, who
preceded him in death on January 21, 1982. In his early years, he
worked as a farm hand in the area and in the Dakotas for periods of
time. He then worked in the CCC Camps of northern Wisconsin, and
returned to the area and farmed in the Town of Holway for many
years until retirement. He entered the nursing home in October
2008.
He was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church where he was a past
council member and cemetery association member. He enjoyed helping
people, doing church work, cooking and baking.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Nancy Ann Brulport of Racine
and Ruth Margaret "Cookie" Bose of Sturtevant; a sister-in-law,
Eleanor Lavin of Butternut; 18 step grandchildren; and numerous
step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by
six brothers, Edward, Clarence, Arnold, William and two in infancy;
and two sisters, Edna Homalka and Helen Babcock.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Our Saviours
Lutheran Cemetery.
