Dyre, Olive G. (29 JUN 1919 - 25 JUL 2009)

Olive G. Dyre, 90, Greenwood, died on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 29, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Terri Blomberg officiated. Burilal followed in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph LaMonica, Mark LaMonica, Travis Olson, Chad Olson, Dustin Olson, Anthony Horvath and Derek Johnston.

Olive Glenora Voie was born on June 29, 1919, in Iola, to Otto and Glenora (nee Syverston) Voie. She was raised in central Wisconsin and her family moved to Greenwood when she was 10 years old. After completing her education, she worked in Eau Claire as a nanny for a short time. She married Godfrey Dyre on Oct. 24, 1939, at the United Lutheran Church, Greenwood. They farmed in the town of Warner, rural Greenwood, and she also worked seasonally at the Loyal Cannery.

She later worked at the Greenwood Bakery for five years and at Greenwood Dairy for 17 years until retiring at the age of 65. During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling to visit her children, playing cards and crafts. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, and a member of Royal Neighbors.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Colene (Joe) LaMonica, Algonquin, Ill., Joan (Don) Szpanski, Seward, Alaska, Jane Dyre, Holmen, Margie (Dick) Holmen, and Arlene (Dean) Johnston, Marcellus, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Dunn, Eau Claire, and Vivian (Charles) Stuber, Mondovi; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Godfrey, on April 4, 1990; and one brother, Emory Vole.
