Wausau Hunter Finds Body of Herman
Ewert
A bird hunter happened across the body of a town
of Lynne resident late Thursday afternoon in an isolated section of
western Oneida County, Coroner Albert G. Onson said today.
Discovery of the body came apparently a couple of hours after
death.
The dead man was identified as Herman Ewert, 64,
who had lived alone on Pier Lake, 15 miles north of
Tripoli.
The hunter, Lawrenee J. Bernhardt, Wausau, found Ewert's body slumped across a wood pile about half a mile from Ewert's lonely home. Death apparently came via a heart attack while Ewert was sawing wood, Coroner
Onson said. Indications were that Ewert had eaten
lunch in his home and gone to the wood lot early in the afternoon,
apparently suffering the fatal seizure about 1:30 or 2 p.
m.
Ewert was a World Was I veteran.
Ewert is survived by two brothers, Charles of
Unity, Wis., and Oscar of Marshfield, and two sisters, Mrs. Hulda
Keith of Dayton, O., and Mrs. Alma Flink of Unity, Wis.
Funeral services will be held in Unity Sunday
afternoon, and the body will be sent there tomorrow by the
Hildebrand Funeral Home.
