Tews, Edgar (21 Jan. 1921 - 16 June
2009)
NEILLSVILLE -- Edgar Tews, 88, of Neillsville
passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, June 16,
2009.
He was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Neillsville to
Charles and Olga (Oehlke) Tews. He grew up two miles north of
Neillsville in Pine Valley Township on the family farm near the
Black River. After attending Neillsville schools, he had a long
career as a carpenter and contractor. He built over 70 homes in the
area, with his final project being the Gazebo in downtown
Neillsville.
Edgar lived in Neillsville his entire life and
was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In his earlier years he
was an avid trapper and fisherman and was a lifelong deer hunter.
He also made several fishing trips to Canada. He and his wife,
Alice, enjoyed traveling throughout the country. His favorite times
were spent at gatherings with both the Tews and Beyer families. He
will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Edgar married Alice Beyer on Sept. 16, 1950, at
St. John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; four children,
Linda (Norm) Dodge of Eleva, Scott (Carol) Tews of Neillsville,
Mark Tews of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Paul (Cindy) Tews of
Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Alex Dodge and Adam Dodge of
Eleva, Ryan Tews and Kelley Tews of Neillsville; along with
numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a
brother, Arthur Tews; and three sisters, Nina Koss, Velda Kalsow
and Edna Beyer.
A Memorial Service for Edgar will be held at 11
a.m. Saturday, June 20, at St. John's Lutheran Church in
Neillsville. The Rev. Timothy Biebert will officiate. Music will be
provided by Sharon Nemitz, organist. Interment will be in the
Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Edgar's family with funeral arrangements.
