Foote, Lucille Helen (15 Feb. 1916 - 14 June
2009)
NEILLSVILLE -- Lucille Helen Foote of N3440
Fairgrounds Ave., passed away peacefully June 14, 2009, at the
Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.
In her 93 years, she filled the roles of
daughter, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother,
great-grandmother and friend to many.
Lucille was born Feb. 15, 1916, to Clyde and
Clara (Wegner) Raine. Her parents farmed at various locations
around Neillsville. Lucille was a lifelong resident of the
area.
Lucille graduated from Neillsville High School
with the class of 1933.
In her own words from a journal she
kept:
"After high school graduation, I attended
Teacher's Training and then taught three years at the Washington
School for $65 a month. After two years I saved enough money for a
down payment on a new 1936 Chevrolet that sold for $654. It was a
good deal as I later married the car salesman, Charles
Foote."
After becoming husband and wife in September
1940, Charlie and Lucille purchased a farm in 1940 just south of
the county fairgrounds and developed an egg business as well as
maintained a herd of dairy cattle until 1960, when they
discontinued the farming operation.
They continued to live on the farm. Charlie
passed away in October 1981. Lucille remained on the old farm until
she was forced to go the Memorial Center in October 2008. She had
lived there in the same house for 68 years.
Lucille is survived by two sons, Jerry (Blair) in
Spring Grove, Ill., and Jim (Carolyn) in Manitowoc.
Further, she is survived by five grandchildren,
Brad (Jennifer), Jason (Lisa), Ryan (Amy) and Kevin Foote and Pam
(Foote) Myers. Also two "honorary" grandchildren deserve mention:
Melissa (Schutz) Rast and Lisa (Strack) Vogel.
There are seven great-grandchildren: Kelleen,

and Nate Myers.
