Miss Mary Louise Thompson, daughter of Mrs. Victoria Thompson, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), and Clarence Melvin Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nelson, Abbotsford, were united in marriage during a candlelight service at 7 o’clock Thursday evening in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Curtiss. The Rev. O.K. Odland was the officiating clergyman.
During the service Miss Esther Vienneaw sang "Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord’s Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Douglas Graham, organist.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her uncle, Arthur Thompson, wore her mother’s wedding dress of embroidered net with a silk veil attached to a Juliet cap of seed pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of white and yellow roses.
Attending the bride were Mrs. Eldred Schraufnagel, as matron of honor, and Miss Dorothy Thompson, cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid. Both wore ballerina length gowns of green frosted organdy, and carried colonial bouquets of white and yellow carnations.
Attending the groom were Howard Rannow, Colby, as best man, and Donald Keiser, Abbotsford, groomsman. Ushers were Eldred Schraufnagel and Ralph Peterson.
A reception was held at the Lutheran Parish Hall followed by a dance in Memorial Hall, Dorchester, Wis.
The bride and groom are both graduates from Abbotsford, High School. Prior to her marriage the bride, a graduate of Wis. State College, La Crosse, taught in Neenah and Medford. The groom is a graduate of the Wis. State College, Stevens Point.
The newlyweds will make their home on the grooms farm when they return from a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin.
