Phillips, Jean (13 JAN 1887 - 26 JUL 1952)
Funeral services were held Monday at the Congregational Church, Owen, for Mrs. Jean Moffat Phillips, 64, who died of a heart attack at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield at 2 a.m. Saturday.
The Rev. Arthur Meinhardt officiated at the services and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gust Becken, Albert Bakke, Cornell Erickson, Arthur Thompsen, Frank Hiebsch, and Ernest Mowery.
Mrs. Phillips, nee Jean Moffat, was born at What Cheer, Ia., Jan. 13, 1887, and received her education there. On July 30, 1907, she was married to Albert Phillips at What Cheer where she lived until moving to Curtiss in 1927. During the past 25 years she lived on a farm three miles west of Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.).
She was a member of the Owen chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Owen Congregational Church, and Ladies Aid.
Her husband, one son, Albert, Thorp; three daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Jean) Bakke, Mrs. Ed (Elizabeth) Kivikko, Curtiss, and Mrs. Loraine (Mary) Fritz, Owen, and nine grandchildren survive her. She is also survived by one brother, Bill Moffat, Fremont, Ia., and four sisters, Mrs. Ed Holland, Mrs. Jean Close, Mrs. Janet Stafford, What cheer, and Mrs. Gilbert Mathes, Madrid, Ia.
One son, William Phillips, preceded her in death.
