Eidsvold

Mrs. Anna Bailey and granddaughter, Miss Florance Jerard, arrived here from Theresa, New York, on Friday, and will remain here for some time, if not for good. Mrs. B. is the mother of our harnessmaker, Geo. W. Bailey, and a sister of S. S. Warner.

Mrs. Addie Wood died at her home near this place on Tuesday, July 10, at 4 p.m. of consumption of the bowels. The funeral services were conducted at the school house, by Rev. Paul Hull, a 3 p.m., Wednesday, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Eidsvold cemetery. The deceased was an only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Sayles of this place, and was born near Theresa, New York twenty-five years ago. She came here about ten years ago and was married to Ed. J. Wood, some five years later. Besides her husband and parents, a little daughter, a brother and many more distant relatives, as well as numerous and loving friends mourn her early demise. She was a member of the M. E. church.

W. R. McCutcheon has purchased the 80 acre farms of A. W. Fear and C. F. Stone, near this place.

S. S. Warner received a new and handsome buggy from Chicago last week. Frank Story also has a new open buggy.

Virgil Inslee has moved onto a homestead in the town of Worden.

Minnie Ruscher went some place in Illinois last week. She has an uncle there and will remain for some time.

Born, on Tuesday July 10, to Moses Poquette and wife, a daughter. On the same date to Frank M. Baker and wife, of Stanley, a daughter. Also to John Nelson and wife, a daughter.

The Misses Martha and Grace Poquette have returned to their home near El. Paso, Minn.

There was a select dancing party at the residence of Frank Story, Saturday evening.

A gentleman, we think from Minn., had purchased the H. Drake farm and taken possession of the same.

School Notes--In district No. 2 (Eidsvold) Matt Kass was elected clerk and $300 raised for teacher's wages. In No 3 (Rogers Creek) Belle Warner was re-elected clerk, a male teacher voted and $210 raised. In No. 4, Andrew Lee as chosen treasurer. It is reported that T. H. Barber will teach the Eidsvold school and M. S. McKee at Roger's Creek. The clerk of No 3 reports 71 persons of school age of which 39 are males and 32 females.
