McKinney, Venida (Marriage - 19 Jan.
1952)
Immanuel Lutheran church, Campbellsport, was the
setting at 1:30 Saturday, Jan. 19, for the wedding of Miss Venida
McKinney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard McKinney and Cpl. Roger
Gust, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gust, Campbellsport.
The Rev. R. A. Rahrs officiated at the double
ring ceremony. During the service, the groom’s sister, Miss
Inez Gust, sang "O Perfect Love," and "The Lord’s Prayer,"
accompanied by Miss Gloria Rucks.
The bride chose a ballerina length gown of ivory
satin, fashioned with a fitted chantilly lace bodice and matching
lace sleeves. Her satin and lace headpiece secured a silk illusion
fingertip veil. She carried a prayer book, topped with a white
orchid and hyacinth bells.
The groom’s sister, Miss Bernadine Gust,
Milwaukee, was the maid of honor. Her strapless coral gown was
fashioned with a matching net over taffeta bolero. Her headpiece
and shoes were of coral satin and she carried a colonial bouquet of
Pinocchio roses and pompons.
Gordon Rucks, cousin of the groom, served as best
man.
The bride’s mother wore a navy blue dress
with winter white accessories and the groom’s mother selected
a navy blue dress with black accessories. Both had corsages of
gardenias and red roses.
Following the ceremony, a reception for about 50
guests was held in the church parlors and dinner was
served.
Out of town guests at the wedding were from
Dorchester, Medford, Milwaukee, Lomira, Byron, Oakfield, Fond du
Lac, and Williams, Montana.
The Carl Gust family recently moved to Campbellsport from Abbottsford.
