Matthes, Theodore (1888? - 31 May
1952)
Funeral services for Theodore Matthes,
64, who died Saturday, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Zink
Funeral Home at 2:00 o’clock. The Rev. Richard Harrison
officiated at the rites and burial was made in the Abbotsford
cemetery.
The pallbearers were Reuben and Fred
Mantik, Irvin Wellman, Ray Schneider, Oscar Schauer, and Albert
Hoeft.
Mr. Matthes, who was a bachelor, operated
a farm northesast of Abbotsford. He was found unconscious on the
floor of his barn shortly after noon, on Saturday. He apparently
had fallen from the haymow, according to John Hildensperger,
Marathon county coroner, who termed his death accidental. Mr.
Matthes was found by the young son of Mrs. Johanna Held, his niece,
who, with her two children, who are displaced persons, had come to
make their home with him. He was admitted to St. Joseph’s
hospital, Marshfield, where he died at 1:35 p.m.
Mrs. Held and children are now staying with the Orin Kramer family.
