Kaiser, Mercedes Margaret (Marriage - 11 June 1952)

St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby was the scene of the wedding of Mercedes Margaret Kaiser and Howard M. Barr on Wednesday morning, June 11m at 9:00 a.m. o’clock. The Rev. N. B. Beschta officiated at the double ring ceremony and celebrated the nuptial mass. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kaiser and Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Barr, of Colby.

Miss Kathleen Kaiser, the bride’s sister, served as maid of honor, and Donald Kaiser, the bride’s brother, as best man. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Thompson, of Tomahawk, brother-in-law and sister of the groom, were bridesmaid and groomsman. Anthony and Marvin Schillinger, Marshfield, ushered.

The bridal attendants’ gowns were fashioned of orchid and green net and lace, respectively, with lace bodice and inserts in the net skirt over satin. They wore matching net bonnets and carried bouquets of pink and white carnations with multi-colored ribbons.

The bride’s gown was fashioned with a lace vest over satin, long tulle sleeves and full net skirt with lace ruffles at the bottom. Her long veil was caught to a pleated bonnet of net and she carried a bouquet of pink roses and white carnations.

Breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents, and dinner and supper at St. Mary’s gymnasium.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of Colby high school. The bride is employed as operator at the General Telephone company and the groom at the Lewis Container Co., in Colby. Following a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, they will reside at Colby.
