Neuhaus, Lucy (90th Birthday - 3 Aug. 1862) 
 

A family gathering was held Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Herb Neuhaus home to celebrate the 90th birthday anniversary of Mrs. Lucy Neuhaus. Present for the occasion were nine of the eleven children, who, with their mother, attended services in the morning at the Evangelical and Reformed church at Colby. 
 

The children here included: 
 

Mr. and Mrs. William Neuhaus, Colby; Mrs. Ervin Oehldrich and Otto Neuhaus, Cleveland; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Neuhaus, Genoa City; Mr. and Mrs. Amos Miller, Elkhart Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Strade, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baumgartner, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Herb Neuhaus and Mrs. Alvin Miller, Abbotsford. Two sons, Paul, of Chicago; and Edward, of Melrose Park, Ill., were unable to be here.  
 

The grandchildren who attended were Mrs. Marvin Dedering, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. William Stolzman, and George Schmidt, Sheboygan; Mrs. Elda Kuhn and sons, Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hueppchen, Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Miller, Kiel; Eugene Miller and Miss Sandra Boeldt, Elkhart Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kademan and family, Miss Dolores Strade, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Telford and family, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Baumgartner, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pacholke, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Becherer and family, Harold, Donald and Jimmy Baumgartner, Colby; and Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Schuette and family, Loyal.  
 

Mrs. Neuhaus was born Aug. 3, 1862 in Centerville county, between Sheboygan and Manitowoc. She was married in September, 1881, to Gerhard Neuhaus, at Newton. Eight sons and eight daughters were all born there. One daughter died in infancy and four of the children died after they became adults. 
 

In January, 1909, they moved to a farm near Curtiss, where they resided until they retired from farming about 1938, and moved to Curtiss. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1931. After the death of Mr. Neuhaus in July, 1944, Mrs. Neuhaus made her home with her children.  
 

Besides the 13 children, Mrs. Neuhaus has 67 grand children, 38 great grand children, and one great, great grand child.
