Anniv. - 15 Jan. 1953)
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Young, formerly of
Abbotsford, now of Roseburg, Oregon, celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary Thursday, Jan. 15.
The Youngs, who were married at Rome,
Wis., Jan. 15, 1903, first made their home in Abbotsford where Mr.
Young was in the mercantile business with his father, A. H. Young,
from 1896 until the death of his father in 1907. Mr. Young’s
brother now resides at Stevens Point.
In 1907, Mr. Young entered the automobile
business and the insurance business. In 1920, the family moved to
Oregon, where Mr. Young purchased five acres of land and later
started the first paid auto park in that state. He still owns the
court.
Mr. Young was a former village president
and is the only living charter member of the Blue lodge, of
Abbotsford.
Mrs. Young, the former Cora Bieck, taught
violin students while the family resided here, and continued her
teaching in Oregon.
They have two sons, A. A. Young, of Oakland, Cal., and B. A. Young, of Roseburg. There are four grand children: John and Elizabeth, of Oakland, and Bernie and Brook, of Roseburg.
