Victor W. Strey, of Marshfield, formerly of Granton, died on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 4-8 p.m. at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and again on Thursday, Aug. 13, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Granton, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Rev. John Trewyn will officiate. Burial ill be in Windfall Cemetery in the Village of Granton. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Strey, Scott Strey, Matt Strey and Luke Strey and active pallbearers will be Jeff Severt, Steve Strey, Andy Strey, Dean Strey, Brian Strey and Tim Strey.

Victor W. Strey was bon on Feb. 24, 1920, in the town of York, to Robert and Anna (nee Thomas) Strey. He attended school at Romadka School in the town of York. He married Dolores L. Woldt on Aug. 29, 1946, in Marshfield. She died on Jan. 15, 1999. After their marriage, they farmed west of Loyal and later moved to his home farm where they farmed from 1948 until their retirement in 1988. They then moved south of the home farm living there until moving to Marshfield. He enjoyed horseshoes, couples pool, horse pulling, vegetable gardening and was a handyman who could fix anything.

He will be sadly missed by four sons and one daughter, David Strey, Granton, Allen (Barbara) Strey, Eau Claire, Kay (Melvin) Severt, Marshfield, Dennis (Sandra) Strey, Marshfield, and Gary (Sandra) Strey, Marshfield; a son-in-law Ronald (Donna) Jakobi, Granton; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ernie Strey, Necedah, Eralin Strey, Osseo, Ceylon (Marge) Strey, Elkhorn, and Robert (Joann) StreY, Franklin; five sisters, Elsie Fricke, Marshfield, Hazel (Marvin) Seeman, Marshfield, Helen Domaine, Loyal, LaVerne Morin, Menomonee Falls, and Norma Potter, Marshfield, Adeline Dahlke.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Dolores, a daughter, Carol Jakobi; and a brother, Raymond Strey.
