Ann E. Snedic, 100, Willard, died at the Clark County Health Care
Center, Owen, on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009. Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Aug. 24, at Holy Family Catholic
Church, Willard. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial
followed in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert
Trunkel, Frank Trunkel, DuWayne Trunkel, Peggy Volovsek, Mary Lou
Behrens and Mary Jo Fox. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Pakiz,
Robert Vesel and Walter Backus.
Ann E. Trunkel was born on Nov. 18, 1908, in Willard, the eldest
child of Anton and Anna (nee Stalzer) Trunkel. She was raised in
Willard and received her education at the Willard State Graded
School. As aa young woman, she moved to Chicago where she worked as
a cook, and in catering. She returned to Willard and married John
A. Snedic on Aug. 16, 1932, in Sheboygan. They later moved into
Greenwood, where they lived for several years, and in the
mid-1980s, moved to Willard. She was a homemaker and raised three
children.
She had many interests, but especially loved cooking and gardening,
and many reaped her talents in these areas. Throughout the years,
she remained very independent, strong willed and had a playful,
feisty spirit and a wonderful giggle. She was a member of Holy
Family Catholic Church, where she was active in the church choir in
previous years, the Slovenska Druzba Club, K.S.K.L. Slovenian
Lodge, served as president of the Catholic Women’s Deanery,
was involved in the Blood Bank for almost 50 years, and was a band
mother.
She will be dearly missed by her three children, William J. Snedic,
Willard, James B, (Ruth) Snedic, West Allis, and Mary Ann (Ron)
Snedic-Wunderlin, Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, Jennifer
Ann (Tim) Snedic-Barber, Milwaukee, and Remi Lynn Snedic, West
Allis, one brother, Edward Trunkel, Greenwood; and nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John, on
March 23, 1992; two brothers, John F. Trunkel and Anton Trunkel;
and one sister in infancy.
