Wiersma, Raymond (June 16, 1922 - August 20,
2009)
Raymond Wiersma, 81, of Abbotsford, died at the
Golden Living Center- Continental Manor in Abbotsford, on Thursday,
August 20, 2009.
He
was born June 26, 1928, in Lake Geneva, to Andrew and Marcia
(Wickham) Wiersma.
He
received his education at the Kingsley One Room County School in
Woodstock, Ill., and graduated from Alden High School.
He
married Beverly Henricks, on April 10, 1954, at Faith Lutheran
Church in Arlington Heights, Ill.
He
served his country by enlisting in the Army, where he served from
1955 to 1956.
He
is survived by his wife, Beverly; and their children, Polly
Pacewicz of Palatine, Ill., and Daniel (Terri) Wiersma of Colby;
six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and his sister, Martha
(Lawrence) Schmidt of Colby.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Brewer; and his brother, Wilbur Wiersma.
Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church on Aug. 24. The
Rev. Mark Neumann presided. Burial was at Abbotsford Public
Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Colby VFW Post
2227.
In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the Zion Lutheran
Church in Colby.
