Gordee, Avis (26 Oct. 1928 - 3 July 2009) 
 

OJAI, Calif. -- Avis Gordee, 80 of Ojai, Calif., passed away Friday, July 3, 2009, at the Continued Care Center under the loving care of her best friend, Mary Lou, and sister, Verla, who were at her bedside. 
 

Avis was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Greenwood, daughter of Harry and Stella (Hium) Gordee. Avis graduated from Greenwood High School in 1947. Memorial services were held July 12, 2009, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Ojai, Calif. 
 

Avis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield, and has many friends from the Marshfield area, where she worked as a LPN for Saint Joseph's Hospital. 
 

Avis is survived by Verla Rear, Ojai, Calif., Beulah (Melvin) Alperstett, Spring Green, Everett (Esther) Gordee, Wauwatosa, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 
 

Proceeding Avis in death was her sister, Agnes Biernat; and brothers, Earl and Calvin Gordee. 
 

Graveside services will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 for family and friends, followed by a potluck picnic at the Greenwood Park.
