Vernon L. Jasmer, 85, of Withee died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. 
 

Services are pending. A complete obituary will run in the Saturday edition of the Marshfield News-Herald. 
 

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is assisting Vernon's family with arrangements.

WITHEE -- Vernon L. "Honey" Jasmer, 85, of Withee passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit at Saint Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield, surrounded by his loving wife and family. 
 

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at the Curtiss Alliance Church, in Curtiss. The Rev. Carl Swarr will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, in the town of Hixon. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the church, in Curtiss. 
 

Serving as his pallbearers will be Vernon Swoboda III, Kenneth Jasmer Jr., Kyle and Andrew Jasmer, Terry Jasmer Jr. and Thomas Maki. 
 

Vernon was born Dec. 5, 1923, in Todd County, Minn., the son of Carl and Susanna (Lambert) Jasmer. Vernon received his education by attending grade school in Todd County, Minn., and later after his family moved to the Maplehurst area in Taylor County, graduated from the eighth grade from Maplehurst Country School. 
 

He married the former Dorthy M. Anderson on Feb. 6, 1952, in LeMars, Iowa. They returned to the Maplehurst area, where Vernon farmed from 1947 to 1991. During that same time, Vernon also worked at Hurd Window Co., in Medford, from 1955 to 1967. Vernon was passionate about his farming and working on his land making pulp wood. His hobbies included traveling with his wife, Dorthy, and making delicious maple syrup. 
 

"Honey" will be sadly missed by his wife and their entire family. 
 

Vernon is survived by his wife, Dorthy, of the town of Maplehurst, his children: Dennis Jasmer of Owen; Kenneth (Rita) Jasmer of Withee; Timothy Jasmer of Withee; Veronica (Vernon) Swoboda of Racine; Terry (Gail) Jasmer of Withee; LeRoy (Debra) Jasmer of Hull, Iowa; Linda (Kevin) Kruger of George, Iowa; Ramona (Robert) Dillon of Hebron, N.H.; Dorthy (Brian) Rohland of Bloomer; 32 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings: Dale (Marcella) Jasmer of Thorp; Evelyn Wall of Lublin; Alvera (Alden) Anderson of Athens; Mylo Jasmer of Medford and Caroline Nicpon of Lublin; also survived by many other relatives and friends. 
 

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Melinda in infancy, one great-grandson Gevonni, one daughter-in-law Barbara, two sisters, Marie and Doris, and one brother Lorn. 
 

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is assisting Vernon's family.
