2009)
Victor W. Strey, 89, of Marshfield and
formerly of Granton, died Saturday afternoon, August 8, 2009, at
Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit in
Marshfield.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Granton with the Rev. John Trewyn. Burial will be in Windfall
Cemetery in the village of Granton. Honorary pallbearers will be
Aaron, Scott, Matt and Luke Strey, and active pallbearers will be
Jeff Severt, Steve, Andy, Dean, Brian and Tim Strey.
Visitations will be on Wednesday from 4
p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Thursday at the
church from 10 a.m. until time of the services.
Victor was born February 24, 1920, in the
town of York, Clark County, to Robert and Anna (Thomas) Strey. He
attended school at Romadka School in York township.
He was united in marriage to Dolores L.
Woldt on August 29, 1946, in Marshfield. Dolores died January 15,
1999.
After their marriage, they farmed west of
Loyal and later moved to Victor's home farm, where they farmed from
1948 until their retirement in 1988. They then moved south of the
home farm, living there until moving to Marshfield.
He enjoyed horseshoes, couples pool,
horse pulling, vegetable gardening and was a handyman who could fix
anything.
Victor is lovingly survived and will be
sadly missed by four sons and one daughter, David Strey of Granton;
Allen (Barbara) Strey of Eau Claire; Kay (Melvin) Severt of
Marshfield; Dennis (Sandra) Strey of Marshfield and Gary (Sandra)
Strey of Marshfield; son-in-law Ronald (Donna) Jakobi of Granton;
21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is further survived
by four brothers, Ernie Strey of Necedah; Eralin Strey of Osseo;
Ceylon (Marge) Strey of Elkhorn and Robert (Joann) Strey of
Franklin; five sisters, Elsie Fricke of Marshfield, Hazel (Marvin)
Seeman of Marshfield; Helen Domine of Loyal; LaVerne Morin of
Menomonee Falls and Norma Potter of Marshfield, and a special
friend, Adeline Dahlke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dolores, daughter Carol Jakobi, and a brother, Raymond Strey.
