SPRING GREEN -- Melvin Alperstett, 88,
died Aug. 10, 2009, at Greenway Manor Nursing home in Spring
Green.
The first of two celebration of life
services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church,
237 E. Daley Street, Spring Green.
Friends and family will also gather at
12:30 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greenwood. A
caravan will depart at 1 p.m. for Forest Hill Cemetery for a brief
service and burial.
He was born Nov. 11, 1920, on the
Alperstett family farm, known as the Black River Dairy Farm, north
of Greenwood. Melvin married and raised a family on that dairy
farm. He also had an archery business in Loyal.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years,
Beulah (Gordee) Alperstett, also living at Greenway Manor; four
daughters, Carol (David Williams) Jefferson of Iowa City, Iowa,
Connie (Steve) Miller of Spring Green, Kaye (Travis) West of The
Woodlands, Texas, and Corinne Dever (Sean) of The Woodlands, Texas;
five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Melvin and Beulah retired from farming in
1976 and moved to Loyal, where they lived for 26 years. In 2002
they moved to Spring Green.
Cuddie Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
